Appalachian Opportunity Fund (AOF) Welcomes Beth McConkey as New Executive Director
The Appalachian Opportunity Fund (AOF) is thrilled to announce Beth McConkey as its new Executive Director. A seasoned nonprofit leader with a passion for financial empowerment and rural resilience, McConkey brings more than two decades of experience in education, philanthropy, and community development. Her career has most recently included transformative roles at EO and Community First Foundation, where she guided organizations through moments of profound change—leading efforts in crisis response, strategic planning, brand revitalization, and sustainable revenue growth.
“Appalachian Opportunity Fund is powered by an incredible team of financial coaches and board members who believe in the potential of every person we serve,” said McConkey. “I’m honored to step into this role and excited to help more families build a secure, prosperous future—one step, one goal, and one household at a time.”
As one of her first initiatives, McConkey is launching a regional listening tour to deepen her understanding of how economic forces are impacting individuals and families across the region. She invites business owners, residents, elected officials, faith leaders, and anyone invested in the future of our region to connect and share their insights.
