Appalachian Opportunity Fund (AOF) is excited to have reached this important milestone, thanks to the hard work of families and their AOF coaches. During this special evening, we’ll hear from the families who worked hard to transform their lives and celebrate the supporters who have been an important part of our journey.

Tennessee has 4x more predatory lenders than McDonalds*. With nearly 50% of families in our region struggling to make ends meet, these families are frequently forced to turn to predatory lenders and check cashers that charge exorbitant rates (over 400% for a payday loan!).
Without financial stability, families struggle with access to reliable childcare, transportation, and housing. This in turn stifles workforce participation, creates economic hardship in communities, and tears families apart.
The foundation for financial stability is skill-building and access. Our financial coaches help people learn negotiation skills, make smarter financial decisions, and have hope for the future. These are lifelong skills and experiences that transform lives, families, and entire communities, for generations!
